JULY 17th St-BONIFACE by-election CANDIDATES

FRANÇOISE THERRIEN VRIGnON- GREEN CANDIDATE

Françoise Therrien Vringon is the Green Party of Manitoba candidate in the St-Boniface by-election on July 17th. “To create sustainable, healthy communities, Greens believe we must learn to live in harmony with the environment,” Therrien Vrignon said. “This need for harmony and cooperation also applies to the way we practise politics and it will be a major plank in our platform.”

Dougald Lamont is the leader of the Manitoba Liberal party. Dougald Lamont owns a marketing and communications consultancy. He has a background in policy, communications and marketing.

BLANDINE TONA - NDP CANDIDATE

Blandine Tona is a human-rights activist and educator. She is seeking the MLA position for St. Boniface after former MLA and premier Greg Selinger's decision to resign. One of her main concerns are cuts to provincial programming, especially health care, she says. Tona has served on numerous women's, gender equality and human rights boards and groups throughout the city.

MAMADOU KA - conservative CANDIDATE

Mamadou Ka is the candidate from the Conservative party that has been chosen for the upcoming byelection. This will be Mamadou Ka's second election in Saint Boniface. In 2016 Greg Selinger won the election with 3,624 votes, compared to Mamadou Ka's 2,211 votes. When asked what platform he would run on, Mamadou Ka said he wants "to make sure that the French language, the French culture is promoted more and more. To make sure the French language and community survive."
